Explore the region on land and sea before heading to the pristine marine protected De Hoop Nature Reserve. Reconnect with yourself while surrounded by the beautiful marine biodiversity that Morukuru are custodians of. Journey on to Hermanus where you will explore the Grootbos Nature Reserve which happens to be a poster for sustainability through the protection and preservation of biodiversity.

Your finale take you into the Western Cape, home to The Mothercity — Cape Town. Explore this vibrant city bursting with culture, history and natural beauty. Journey along the Cape Peninsula, up the iconic mountain and keep your finger on the pulse with walking foodie and cultural tours of the city centre. Travel up the west coast to the Cederberg to reconnect with your inner world at Bushmans Kloof where you can gain insights into Bushman Rock Art focus on wellness as you take in the last 2 weeks.

FULL ITINERARY

DAYS 01 TO 03 — GRAAFF-REINET / SAFARI

 

Fly directly into Port Elizabeth Airport where your driver will be waiting to whisk you away to the award-winning Samara Karoo Reserve which is a 67,000 acre wilderness in the beautiful Great Karoo region where you will be a part of an vision to build a Global Biodiversity Hotspot.

The reserve comprises of 5 vegetation biomes and is home to over 60 mammal species including the Big Five, cheetah and 225 bird species.

Spend 3 nights at Samara’s Karoo Lodge or their Plains Camp where you will engage in conservation, star gazing, cheetah tracking, mountain biking and walking safaris.

DAYS 04 TO 06 — GARDEN ROUTE / OVERLAND

 

South Africa’s Garden Route is legendary but few have seen it like this. Jet off to Port Elizabeth and transfer to Plettenberg Bay where you will check into Tsala Treetop Lodge. Set amidst the treetops of an age-old indigenous forest, this lodge is the prefect place from where to explore the region from land to sea.

On your full day in Plettenberg Bay, why not head down to Knysna, Sedgefield and Oudtshoorn. To help you unlock this seaside gem, we’ve included a Robberg Peninsula Tour as well as the option of a whale watching or marine eco tour.

DAYS 07 & 08 — DE HOOP NATURE RESERVE / OCEAN

 

It’s time to make your way up the east coast of South Africa along warm Indian Ocean to the De Hoop Nature Reserve. Check in at Morukuru Beach Lodge for 2 nights and unwind on your pristine beach while your hosts introduce you to the marine biodiversity of the reserve.

Activities at De Hoop include guided marine walks to encounter the rich diversity of sea creatures from octopus to vibrant sea anemones, protected rock pools for idyllic swimming and snorkelling, guided fynbos walks where you can discover 1500 different species of seasonal flowers, land-based whale watching as well as mountain biking, nature drives, sandboarding and more.

DAYS 09 & 10 — HERMANUS / FORAL & OCEAN

 

Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and Overberg Mountains, Grootbos is a poster for conservation and sustainability throughout every aspect of their business.

Explore the magnificent biodiversity of this pristine wilderness on guided drives and walks through the reserve as you learn about the fascinating fynbos and delicate relationships of the indigenous flora and fauna. Go horse riding, whale watching, on a flower safari, or even a thrilling scenic flight over the gorgeous landscape.

DAYS 11 TO 13 — CAPE TOWN / CITY

 

Drive along the stunning coastline to The Mothercity where you will start your Cape Town adventure. Check into the sustainable Kensington Place nestled into the mountain and overlooking the city.

Spend the 3 nights immersing in the culture, history and unique biodiversity of Cape Town. Explore the Table Mountain National Park on foot with a botanist and gain insight into this biodiversity hotspot.

Meander along the Cape Peninsula taking in the rugged coastline before spending the afternoon foraging along the coast for a spot of dinner. Don’t stress, we’ve made sure a full day is reserve to get your “tasting” on in the winelands of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek.

DAYS 14 & 15 — CEDERBERG / ROCK ART

 

Travel up the west coast of the Cape and into the rocky Cederberg region. Here you will check into Bushmans Kloof which is home to some of Southern Africa’s most exquisite Bushman Rock Art. Explore this stunning wilderness area which revolved around wellness and connection to nature.

Bushmans Kloof is renowned for its award winning spa however the area is popular with people looking to disconnect with the hustle and bustle and reconnect with nature and themselves. The landscape offers breathtaking opportunities for photography and art.

DAY 16 — CAPE TOWN AIRPORT / FLIGHT

 

It’s your final morning in South Africa. Why not drop in at the V&A Waterfront for a spot of shopping before your flight (time permitting) or enjoy a slow morning in the winelands before heading to Cape Town International Airport from where you can continue on your travels.
