Experience a true wilderness on the southernmost edge of the Kalahari.

Travel further south to The Mothercity (Cape Town) and get acquainted with the culture through foodie and historical tours led by expert guides. Spend 3 pampered nights at The Belmond Mount Nelson nestled between the slopes of Table Mountain and the vibrant city.

Time to get some sun and sea at a pristine marine protected area within the De Hoop Nature Reserve. Reconnect with yourself while surrounded by the beautiful marine biodiversity that Morukuru are custodians of. Your journey comes to an end at the award winning Samara Karoo Reserve. FULL ITINERARY

DAYS 01 & 02 — JOHANNESBURG / CITY

 

Upon arrival in Johannesburg, you will be met by your friendly driver and transferred to the historic house which was once lived in by Nelson Mandela.

Spend your afternoon connecting the city’s vibrant culture and jazz scene. Bright and early on your first full day in South Africa venture into the historic and energetic township of Soweto before visiting the Apartheid Museum.

DAYS 03 TO 05 — KALAHARI / SAFARI

 

Journey inward to South Africa’s biggest wildlife reserve. Tswalu is first and foremost an ambitious conservation project, sustainably safeguarding vital habitat and the restoring biodiversity while offering a private and exclusive safari experience.

Spend 3 nights learning more about how they balance the four key benchmarks of conservation, community, culture and commerce. A private safari vehicle, field guide and experienced tracker are guaranteed allowing you to plan immersive days on safari, both on and off the safari vehicle based on your individual interests.

DAYS 06 TO 08 — CAPE TOWN / CITY

 

Continue down to the southern tip of Africa and check-in at the Belmond Mount Nelson bathed in soft pink. The Mount Nelson allows you to be spoiled in your little oasis while remaining connected to the vibey city centre.

Spend the 3 nights immersing in the culture, history and unique biodiversity of Cape Town. Join an immersive Peninsula tour including a visit to the SANCCOB seabird conservation project before connecting with the culture and history while indulging in a foodie tour of Cape Town.

DAYS 09 & 10 — DE HOOP NATURE RESERVE / OCEAN

 

It’s time to make your way up the east coast of South Africa along warm Indian Ocean to the De Hoop Nature Reserve. Check in at Morukuru Beach Lodge for 2 nights and unwind on your pristine beach while your hosts introduce you to the marine biodiversity of the reserve.

Activity at De Hoop include guided marine walks to encounter the rich diversity of sea creatures from octopus to vibrant sea anemones, protected rock pools for idyllic swimming and snorkelling, guided fynbos walks where you can discover 1500 different species of seasonal flowers, land-based whale watching as well as mountain biking, nature drives, sandboarding and more.

DAYS 11 TO 13 — GRAAFF-REINET / SAFARI

 

The finale to your african adventure take you into the award-winning Samara Karoo Reserve which is a 67,000 acre wilderness in the beautiful Great Karoo region.

The reserve comprises of 5 vegetation biomes and is home to over 60 mammal species including the Big Five, cheetah and 225 bird species. Spend 3 nights at Samara engaging in conservation, star gazing, cheetah tracking, mountain biking and walking safaris.

DAY 14 — PORT ELIZABETH AIRPORT / FLIGHT

 

Enjoy one last game drive in this diverse and remarkable wilderness before tucking into a hearty breakfast. Thereafter you can make your way to Port Elizabeth Airport from where you can continue on your onward travel arrangements.
